Cricket Uganda Confirms Squad for Inaugural Women’s Emerging Trophy

CRICKET Uganda has named a 14-player Victoria Pearls squad for the first-ever ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy, which will run in Bangkok, Thailand from 18 November to 1 December.
Teenagers Malisa Ariokot and Irene Mutonyi return to the team after missing the recent Canada Series, which Uganda won. They come in for Sarah Tino and Jimia Mohammed, who were preferred for that tour.
Teddy Oyella keeps her place in the squad. The spinner holds her spot ahead of all-rounder Phionah Kulume, who also sat out the Canada Series.
Janet Mbabazi will captain the Victoria Pearls, with Rita Musamali as her deputy.
The team will be flagged off on Monday before heading to Thailand, where they will face seven other nations: Scotland, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, Tanzania and hosts Thailand.
Uganda will open their campaign against Scotland on Thursday, 20 November, at the Terdhai Cricket Oval. They will end the round-robin stage against Netherlands on Sunday, 30 November, at the same venue.
