Day 2 of the Zim Cyber City cricket tournament saw thrilling matches at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Durban Wolves vs. Harare Bolts
Durban Wolves secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over Harare Bolts. After Bolts chose to bat, they lost early wickets but recovered through Sean Williams (35) and George Munsey’s (37) 72-run partnership. James Neesham’s late cameo (11*) helped post 99/4 in 10 overs. Wolves’ chase began shakily, but Colin Munro dominated with an unbeaten 58 (29 deliveries, 4 sixes, 5 boundaries), guiding them to victory with four balls to spare.
NYS Lagos vs. Joburg Bangla Tigers
NYS Lagos extended their winning streak, defeating Joburg Bangla Tigers by 16 runs in a high-scoring encounter. Rassie van der Dussen anchored Lagos’ batting with an unbeaten 81 (32 balls, 8 sixes, 4 fours). Najibullah Zadran and Avishka Fernando contributed useful knocks. Tigers struggled to keep up, managing 117/7 in 10 overs despite Tashinga Musekiwa’s 21* and Hazratullah Zazai’s 18. Akhilesh Bogudum took 3/19.
Cape Town Samp Army vs. Bulawayo Brave Jaguars
Cape Town Samp Army edged Bulawayo Brave Jaguars in a tight contest. Jaguars’ 47-run partnership between Kobey Herft (38) and Nick Hobson (21) yielded 83/6 in 10 overs. David Willey took 3/13 for Samp Army. In reply, Brian Bennett (20) and Rohan Mustafa (19) led the charge. Wessly Madhevere’s 3/17 threatened to derail Samp Army, but Qais Ahmed’s unbeaten 8 sealed the win with three wickets and eight balls to spare.
