ZIMBABWE began their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign with a convincing eight-wicket victory over Oman in Colombo on Monday.
Backed by sponsors Mukuru, the Chevrons produced a disciplined bowling performance led by Blessing Muzarabani, who took three wickets for 16 runs, while Richard Ngarava also claimed three for 17 to restrict Oman to 103 all out.
Zimbabwe then chased the target comfortably, reaching 106 for two in 13.3 overs to seal victory with 39 balls remaining.
Brian Bennett was the top scorer with an unbeaten 48, while Brendan Taylor contributed 31 and Tadiwanashe Marumani added 21 to guide the team home.
The win gives Zimbabwe early confidence as they prepare for tougher matches ahead in the tournament. The strong performance from both the bowlers and the top order shows the team has a balanced attack capable of competing against stronger opposition in upcoming games.
