HARARE- SOGO Rangers secured a position in the NPL T20 Blast final by defeating Takashinga Patriots 1 in the Qualifier 1 of the NPL T20 Blast at Harare Sports Club on Thursday afternoon.
The noteworthy performances by Sean Williams and Mathew Welch, 56 comprising half-centuries and a significant 102-run partnership, propelled SOGO Rangers to a substantial five-wicket triumph.
Consequently, the high-flying SOGO Rangers gained automatic entry into the final, while Patriots 1 will contend in the Qualifier 2 for an additional opportunity to advance to the final. Williams, honored as the player-of-the-match, showcased an impressive batting performance, amassing 68 runs from 32 balls, while Welch contributed 56 runs from 44 balls.
Captain Jonathan Campbell’s decision to opt for fielding first proved astute, and the team’s bowlers displayed commendable efficiency in limiting Takashinga Patriots 1 to 182/6 in 20 overs.
