SCLPS YL B savour flawless 16 win season as legend Obuya rules run charts

SHREE Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj YL B have retained the Nairobi County Cricket Association (NCCA) Division One 50 Overs League title after completing a perfect campaign with 16 wins from 16 matches.

The champions capped their season at Nairobi Club with a commanding 92 run victory over Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club A, finishing top of the 12 team table with 64 points and the league’s best net run rate of 2.646.

Their latest title extends an impressive run in the 50 overs format, with Samaj B having now completed two consecutive unbeaten seasons. They also won the T20 League earlier this year, underlining their success across formats.

Captain Ghanshyam Shiyani, who finished second on the league’s run scoring charts, credited the team’s mentality and unity for their success.

“We did better from last season, and we’re hoping the same next year. Game plan, it was actually the mentality and the teamwork we had. The mentality was to dominate the season,” Shiyani said.

“No particular standout player, I will actually give it to the team. If we didn’t play together as a unit, we wouldn’t have achieved, so we would like to continue dominating. I’m hoping for the same results, unbeaten two years. I give it to management of the SCLPS team and to Coach Lamech Onyango. Without them, we wouldn’t have made it this far.”

Wolves Cricket Team A finished second with 11 wins, five defeats and 44 points, recording a net run rate of 0.784. Kanbis B were third on 40 points after 10 wins, with a net run rate of 0.843, while Sir Ali Muslim Club B placed fourth with 36 points from nine victories.

The middle of the table was tightly contested, with Nairobi Gymkhana B, Kenya Kongonis A and Swamibapa B each finishing on 32 points after eight wins and eight defeats. Their net run rates were minus 0.034, minus 0.253 and minus 0.348 respectively.

Obuya Cricket Academy A finished on 31 points despite also recording eight wins, a figure that requires confirmation against the official standings.

At the foot of the table, Ruaraka B finished on 24 points, Sikh Union B on 20, Ngara Sports Club B on 16 and Legends CC A on 12.
