CRICKET Uganda has confirmed that Canada Women’s National Team will tour Kampala for the Victoria Series 2025, a five-match T20I series against Uganda’s senior women’s team, the Victoria Pearls from 18 -27 October.
All games will be played at Lugogo Oval as part of the ICC Women’s Cricket Week, a global celebration of women’s cricket which was officially launched two days ago to promote and celebrate women’s cricket.
The ten-day bilateral series will feature Uganda’s Victoria Pearls, taking on Canada in five T20Is, with the opening game set for Monday, October 20.
It will be the Victoria Pearls’ first outing since their disappointing run at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Namibia last month.
Uganda will use the matches as preparation for the ICC Women’s Emerging Trophy in Thailand next month.
Head coach Deus Muhumuza said the series will help the team assess key areas ahead of their next international assignment.
“This series will help us track our progress in key areas such as mental toughness, communication, and role-specific execution,” said Muhumuza. “It’s a perfect platform to test combinations and fine-tune ahead of our global campaign,” Muhumuza revealed.
Since the series has full international status, both teams will have a lot to play for. Uganda, ranked 18th in the world, will aim to use their home advantage against Canada, who are ranked 31st.
Cricket Canada CEO Salman Khan said his side is looking forward to a valuable challenge against the hosts.
“Uganda’s women’s side is a strong and competitive team, and this tour will provide invaluable experience for our players as we continue to grow women’s cricket in Canada,” Khan said.
