Zimbabwe Beat Namibia to Seal Series Win in Bulawayo

ZIMBABWE chased down 170 with ease to beat Namibia by five wickets at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

Namibia, sent in to bat first, posted 169 for six in their 20 overs. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton top-scored with a quick 47 from 30 balls, while Malan Kruger made 45 and captain Gerhard Erasmus added 37.

Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans both took two wickets each for Zimbabwe, while Tinotenda Maposa and Sikandar Raza chipped in with one apiece.

In reply, Zimbabwe got off to a flying start with Brian Bennett smashing 40 off 20 balls and Tadiwanashe Marumani anchoring the chase with a well-played 50 from 36 deliveries. Brendan Taylor chipped in with 29 before Ryan Burl (24 not out) finished the job in the 19th over.

Johannes Smit was Namibia’s best bowler with 2 for 38, but Zimbabwe’s strong batting line-up proved too good.

The victory gave Zimbabwe a 2-0 series lead with one match still to play on Thursday.
