Lady Chevrons Ready for Africa T20 World Cup Qualifier

ZIMBABWE’s women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, will include both senior players and young talents in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025 in Namibia.
The team of 14 players will be captained by Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, one of the most experienced batters in the side.
Young players such as Kelis Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza, and Adel Zimunu have been included to provide the team with more energy.
Head coach Walter Chawaguta said the mix was important.
“The squad has a good balance of experience and youth, and we believe we are in a strong position to compete,” he said.
Zimbabwe are in Group A with Namibia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. They will start against Namibia on 31 August, then play Sierra Leone on 1 September and Nigeria on 3 September in Windhoek.
The top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals. The two finalists will qualify for the Global Qualifier in Nepal, which is the last step before the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The Lady Chevrons were unbeaten at the last Africa Qualifier in Uganda in 2023, where they beat the hosts in the final. But Chawaguta said they cannot relax.
“Every game matters. We must respect all teams,” he said.
Key players in the squad are Josephine Nkomo, Modester Mupachikwa, Nomvelo Sibanda, Loreen Tshuma, and Christabel Chatonzwa. The younger players will also seek to prove themselves on the big stage.
